Working to Enhance the Skills of Afghan Diplomats

MSI’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs project (FAIR) technical advisor Dr. Amy Jo Minett (pictured left) presented English language program materials to Mr. Ghirat (pictured right), Director General of the Institute of Diplomacy’s (IOD) English Language Training program.

Dr. Minett and the project team tailored the training for the non-traditional adult learner, with a refined focus on the reading, writing and speaking needs of the diplomatic corps. Dr. Minett also provided direct training to six English language instructors from the Institute’s language instruction program.

FAIR technical advisors are also providing training for the Institute’s library-in-training program to help librarians to improve delivery of services to the diplomatic corps. They will also work with staff to create a strategic plan to achieve goals that enhance service of staff and diplomats of the Ministry of Interior.

These activities are geared toward helping to advance the Ministry’s goal of having all Afghan diplomats trained in English.
