MSI is part of a consortium that implements the Business Growth Initiative (BGI) project. BGI supports USAID mission programs and provides guidance to economic growth officers in enterprise development. The main thrust of this initiative is to promote best practices and build a community of practice for enterprise development within USAID and among other development practitioners. To reach these objectives, the consortium writes studies and technical briefs in topical areas of enterprise development, maintains an extensive website with numerous reference links, provides support to project and program design, and develops tools for assessment and project implementation.

MSI actively participates in this project through strategic and technical input into the planning of activities and priorities of the project. We have also authored studies and technical briefs, including research on SME-based exports in Chile, and currently on small and medium enterprise development within the extractives industry in Africa.
