Evaluation Training
MSI will lead two Certificate Evaluation Courses - one in Washington, DC and one in an international location. The certificate Evaluation Course is an integral part of USAID's Administrator's Initiative to Revitalize the Evaluation System within the Agency. The goal is to train a substantial number of Program, Project Development, and Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, so that the evaluation and monitoring functions are balanced.
The course will target USAID mission evaluation officers, program officers, and technical officers whose responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and impact of the activities and projects they finance.
The course has five main objectives:
- To increase participants' understanding of the utility of evaluations as part of ongoing project and program management implantation
- To understand the interrelationship of performance monitoring and evaluation
- To teach skills on how to design, implement, write, and determine the quality of an evaluation study
- To provide one week of practice (field work) in conducting an evaluation
- To examine the factors that help ensure that the results of evaluations contribute to organizational learning - improved program design and policy formulation.
