We helped to carry out the USAID-funded Zambia Local Partners Capacity Building Program’s (LPCB), which helped more than 100 civil society organizations build their skills to provide better services. These CSOs were working on the front lines of fighting HIV/AIDS.

Our video producer Noah Wilderman traveled to Zambia to document the project’s impact. In a country with over 14% of the population affected by HIV/AIDS, one of the highest infection rates in the world, it was not hard to find enthusiasm about the progress being made.

“They want to show that the impact that the LPCB program has had on them is something they can sing about, something that they can talk about, something they really feel has made a difference in their lives and the lives of their organizations,” said Louis Changula of the Zambia Interfaith Networking Group of HIV/AIDS.

As a result of the project, Zambian organizational development professionals founded the first professional association of its kind, the Institute of Organizational Development Facilitators (IODF). The institute is evidence of a sustainable network stemming from LPCB’s work.
