Providing Critical M&E Support in Africa

Working closely with USAID/Kenya and East Africa on strategy, monitoring and strategic communications

We provide comprehensive M&E support to USAID/Kenya and East Africa’s (KEA) vast $480 million portfolio across the entire program cycle. The project is now in its sixth year, offering a full-range of services for learning support, strategic planning, performance monitoring, communications and knowledge management.

Our team has conducted 25 evaluations and assessments for the Mission across the portfolio. It is also unique among MEL platforms because it also provides strategic communications services. MSI designed and implemented a strategic communications strategy; has updated and refreshed four social media platforms; has written, edited and helped to publish Annual Reports, e-newsletters, brochures, and fact sheets; and provides media monitoring services and analysis.

We have also provided support for critical CLA efforts. During the development of the CDCS, we organized and facilitated collaboration with a series of Kenyan advisory groups.

We also assisted on a comprehensive effort to develop an M&E system, including the development of the Mission-wide PMP and project level MEL plans. These efforts were premised on collaborating closely with technical teams and building Mission capacity.

MSI’s experience on KSP teaches us that linking M&E systems and processes is essential. Creating a connection at the strategic, program and activity level provides the best feedback loop for iterative learning along the activity cycle.
