Stevens Tucker is a senior political scientist who has worked since the mid-1980s on a wide range of democracy, governance and development issues in transitional and post-conflict settings, and in a variety of institutional contexts (government, development consulting, NGO and foundations). His primary areas of expertise include institutional, democracy, human rights and governance and political economy analysis, decentralization and local governance, civil society strengthening, policy reform, donor coordination, strategy development and program design, program implementation and monitoring and evaluation. He has led numerous democracy, human rights and governance and sectoral assessment missions, and has had long-term field assignments in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. He holds a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley and is fluent in French.
