Ali Hayat

Ali Hayat is a M&E specialist who has managed and designed large-scale quantitative and qualitative field assessments, evaluations (performance and impact), and research projects in over twenty countries. Most of his M&E and applied research experience has been in conflict and post-conflict settings and includes research on economic growth, governance, and humanitarian assistance. Over the last year, he has been the technical director for three USAID projects in Central Africa and the Middle East. From December 2018 to August 2020, he worked as the chief of party of the Syria Humanitarian Monitoring Project focused on independent third-party monitoring of humanitarian efforts of USAID’s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance. Mr. Hayat also worked as the chief of party and senior M&E specialist at the Jordan Monitoring and Evaluation Support Project and was primarily responsible for the technical management and oversight of evaluations, assessments, and capacity-building efforts. He has teaching and training experience and has led the training of interviewers and monitoring specialists and has taught at the university level. He did his Ph.D. coursework in comparative politics at the City University of New York.
